about greg pederson

Greg Pederson has called Mound home since 1975. He and his wife, Vickie, raised their three daughters here, and all three attended Westonka schools.

Shortly after moving to Mound, Greg joined the Mound Volunteer Fire Department. Over the next 51 years, he served as a firefighter, lieutenant, captain, volunteer chief, and eventually Mound's first full-time Fire Chief. He retired in 2026 after 25 years leading the department.

As Fire Chief, Greg helped secure hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants for public safety improvements and worked with city leaders and community partners to develop the public safety facility on Wilshire Boulevard.

Outside of public service, Greg built a career in manufacturing and engineering leadership. He advanced from apprentice to department manager at Tonka Toys and later managed plastics engineering operations at Minnesota Rubber (Quadion), overseeing large teams, projects, and million-dollar budgets.

The Pederson family has deep ties to the community. While Greg served in public safety, Vickie worked first at Tonka Toys and later as a teacher in the Westonka School District.

Having lived, worked, raised a family, and served in Mound for more than five decades, Greg understands the issues that matter to residents: strong schools, public safety, responsible spending, protecting what makes life on the lake special, and ensuring local government is accessible and accountable to the people it serves.
