Shared Solutions for a Stronger Mound

Building a Stronger Mound Together

Greg Pederson is running for mayor because Mound deserves thoughtful leadership, strong community partnerships, and practical solutions that improve everyday life.

Mound is a special place. Residents value safe neighborhoods, beautiful lakes, strong schools, local businesses, and a community that looks out for one another. Greg believes the best way to preserve those strengths is through practical leadership, responsible planning, and open communication.

After decades of serving the community and working with neighboring cities, county agencies, schools, and public safety organizations, Greg has seen what happens when people work together toward common goals. As mayor, he will focus on shared solutions that strengthen Mound today while preparing the city for future generations.

Safe, Welcoming, and Proud Mound

A thriving community starts with residents who feel safe, connected, and proud of where they live. Greg will build on Mound's strengths by supporting public safety, maintaining attractive neighborhoods, protecting the city's unique lake culture, and encouraging community pride.

His leadership helped Mound earn HEARTSafe Community recognition through large-scale CPR education and preparedness efforts that trained hundreds of local students and residents. He also built strong working relationships with neighboring police departments, public safety agencies and the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, creating partnerships that help keep residents and visitors safe.

Proven Results: Helped Mound earn HEARTSafe Community designation through CPR education and emergency preparedness initiatives that reached hundreds of local students and residents.

Smart Growth & Strong Infrastructure

Reliable infrastructure supports everything from public safety and local businesses to daily life for residents. Greg believes city investments should follow a long-term strategy that improves roads, utilities, water systems, and public services while minimizing disruption to the community.

Throughout his career, he helped lead major public safety facility improvements and understands the importance of planning projects carefully, communicating clearly, and coordinating with regional partners. His approach focuses on dependable city services, responsive government, and infrastructure that meets today's needs while preparing for tomorrow.

Proven Results: Lead the planning and development of a modern Public Safety Facility designed to serve Mound and neighboring communities for years to come.

Fiscal Responsibility with Common Sense

Taxpayer dollars should be managed with the same care families use to manage their household budgets. Greg believes in making thoughtful investments, planning ahead, and choosing solutions that deliver long-term value.

During his public service career, he helped secure hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants and partnered with neighboring communities to share costs on major public safety investments. He also maintained a disciplined approach to budgeting while ensuring residents received the services they expect. Greg will bring that same practical financial stewardship to City Hall by investing wisely, planning carefully, and focusing resources where they make the greatest impact.

Proven Results: Helped secure more than $850,000 in grant and donations funding between 2015 and 2025, bringing outside resources into the community.

Transparent & Effective Leadership

Strong communities depend on leaders who communicate openly, listen carefully, and follow through on commitments. Greg believes residents deserve clear goals, honest communication, and leadership that earns trust through action.

Over more than two decades of leadership roles spanning regional organizations, multi-city partnerships, and public service agencies, Greg has built a reputation for bringing people together, solving problems, and keeping projects moving forward. He will work to strengthen communication between city government and residents while establishing clear short-term and long-term priorities for Mound.

Proven Results: Helped secure a $1.2 million grant award for environmental cleanup through long-term leadership with a regional training organization (WAFTA), demonstrating an ability to build partnerships and deliver results.

Investing in Future Generations

The choices made today will shape Mound for decades to come. Greg wants future generations to inherit a community that remains safe, vibrant, and welcoming for families.

Throughout his career, he has invested in education, youth safety, and Mound’s development through school partnerships, community outreach programs, safety education initiatives, and mentoring future public safety professionals. From supporting local schools to preparing the next generation of community leaders, Greg believes Mound's future success begins with creating opportunities for young people and families today.

Proven Results: Supported youth and families through community events, public safety open houses, and school emergency planning initiatives.
